Drawing from John 2:23-25, Pastor Stephen Garman examines a transitional yet deeply significant passage in the Gospel of John that serves as a warning about the nature of saving faith. Jesus, while performing miracles in Jerusalem during the Passover feast, attracted many who believed in his name based solely on the signs they witnessed. Yet John records that Jesus did not entrust himself to these people, because he knew what was in every human heart. The sermon confronts the uncomfortable reality that it is possible to be attracted to Jesus, and even to believe in him on a surface level, without ever surrendering to his lordship. Pastor Garman challenges the church to move beyond an attractional faith into a growing, surrendered discipleship, rooted in both the grace and truth that Christ embodies. The sermon closes with the assurance that Jesus, the Good Shepherd, does fully entrust himself to those who truly know him and follow him.
