Drawing from John chapter 2, verses 13 through 22, this sermon explores two defining acts at the beginning of Jesus' ministry as recorded by John: the turning of water into wine and the cleansing of the temple. The pastor presents these as John's deliberate theological framing of who Jesus is, illustrating grace through the wedding at Cana and truth through the temple cleansing. The central argument is that Jesus supersedes the old covenant system, including the temple itself, by becoming the new dwelling place of God. His death and resurrection confirmed this, and now the church, as the body of Christ, assumes the role of God's temple in the world. Believers are therefore called to live within the boundaries of grace and truth, extending grace to themselves and others while honestly confronting sin in their own lives.
